3 SIMPLE STEPS TO GROW CAT GRASS
Step 1: SOAK THE SEEDS
After opening the packet, rinse the seeds briefly to remove any dust. Then soak the seeds in water using a ratio of 1/3 cup of seeds to a full cup of water. Ensure the water level is about 1cm above the seeds. Soak for 8–10 hours.
Why soak seeds?
In nature, seeds have natural protective coatings and nutrient inhibitors that dissolve with consistent moisture (like rainfall), allowing the seeds to sprout. By soaking, we mimic this natural process to initiate germination.
Step 2: GERMINATE THE SEEDS
The next morning, drain the seeds into a small-holed colander to prevent spillage. Cover them with a clean, damp cloth or gauze to maintain moisture. Mist with water regularly to keep them moist. After 24–36 hours, you will begin to see sprouts emerge. By the next full day, roots will become clearly visible.
Step 3: PLANTING
Spread the soaked and sprouted seeds evenly in a planting pot. Avoid overcrowding to give each seed room to grow. Cover with a thin layer of soil, mist with water daily. Within 3–4 days, tender shoots will appear—just right for your cat to nibble on. After 5 days, the grass will be ready for your cat to enjoy gradually.
